Types of Membership

Full Adult Membership

This is the club's standard membership package for all people aged 18 years and older. Subject to certain provisos (for further information, see key sections under Boats and Equipment), full membership entitles the member to unlimited use of the club's equipment and facilities, for training and for racing. Also, it confers on the members all rights as stipulated under the Club Constitution. Membership of the club also entitles the member to use of the indoor gym facilities at nearby Boroughmuir Rugby Football Club (subject to terms and conditions -- currently the daily rate is £1 for members of the club).

Student and Unemployed Membership

Available to all adults who are either in full-time education (excluding post-graduates, researchers, et al who are receiving remuneration) and to adults who are presently unemployed. Usage rights are similar to full adult membership.

Junior Membership

Available to all people who are aged under eighteen years on 01 September of the preceding year (and are therefore eligible to race as J18 for the duration of that season).

Cadet Membership

Available to all people who are aged under fourteen years on 01 September of the preceding year (and are therefore eligible to race as J14 for the duration of that season).

Sculling Membership

This package offers membership of the club to individuals who have their own single sculling boat (or access to a private boat) and who wish to use only that boat, whether for training and/or racing. It entitles the member to represent the club at official racing events (subject to the club's normal entry requirements) but does not provide for use of any other club equipment.

Family Membership

The club offers a discount of 50% on subscriptions of children of fully paid-up adult members of the club.

Boat Racking

Subject to space being available, the club may hire boat racking space to its members. Anybody wishing to hire racking space shoud contact the Honorary Secretary who keeps a note of those waiting for spaces.

Country Membership

Available for visiting rowers who wish, subject to the club's normal safety and welfare guidelines, to use the club's equipment. This package suits experienced athletes visiting from other countries or clubs, and students who wish to continue their training out of term-time. The terms of Country Membership are usually at the discretion of the Honorary Treasurer.

Honorary Life Membership

A person winning a medal at a bona fide World Rowing Championship or Olympic regatta (excluding Junior, U23, and Masters), may be considered by the club for an Honorary Life Membership. Also, the members may, in a General meeting, resolve to bestow an Honorary Life Membership.
